Dr. (Mrs.) Epiphania Emefa Bonsi has over forty years of experience as a counseling and mental health professional and serves as the Director of Counselling Skills Development Institute. Dr. Bonsi holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana and a BSc. from Tuskegee University, Alabama where she graduated with Summa Cum Laude. She currently lectures at Methodist University College, University of Education, Winneba, Central University, Ghana and Palm Institute of Strategic Leadership.
Dr. Bonsi has worked in three countries and served various positions. In the USA, she was employed as a Team Leader/Clinical Specialist at Bluegrass Oakwood in Somerset, Kentucky, where she was responsible for developing and training staff on several key behavior and assessment techniques. She has also worked as a Staff Psychologist at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina where she counselled, supervised and taught students. She also served as Clinical Fellow (Post Doc) at the Counseling & Psychological Services at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. In Ghana, Dr. Bonsi was the Director of the Counseling & Placement Center at the University of Ghana, Legon and the National Guidance Coordinator for Ghana Education Service.
Dr. Bonsi was a lecturer/Head of Department at Advanced Teachers College in Akwanga, Plateau State of Nigeria. She has served as a consultant to several organizations, both local and international. Dr. Bonsi’s time is not only spent on professional activities, she has also invested in raising awareness on marriage and family life issues in many churches in Ghana as well as preparing couples for marriage. She continues to provide services as a Counselling Psychologist as well as training participants in the practice of counseling to various organizations. She is a licensed Psychologist, member of American Psychological Association and Ghana Psychological Association.
